Welcome to the World, Baby Spencer

This little guy`s mom, Leah, happens to be one of my oldest and dearest friends. She and I seem to have one of those easy friendships that can withstand some distance, as if no time has passed at all. Undoubtedly, our paths always seem to come back together again. Needless to say, those many months ago when she announced her pregnancy, I was beyond thrilled. I just knew it wouldn’t be long before she and I would be on the same page again.

Leah’s pregnancy was truly not without its difficulties. You wouldn’t know it though. I’m not sure this girl possesses even one ounce of self-pity. I thought about her and her swelling feet countless times throughout the summer`s heat waves. I, on the other hand,  have no shame when it comes to self-pity, and I will never forget the unbearable heat that I experienced near the end of my first pregnancy. All I have to say is, thank goodness for air conditioning. Summer time pregnancies are not for the faint of heart.

Much to everyone’s surprise, a month and a half before his due date, Leah and her husband John welcomed baby Spencer into the world. This little family has been put through the wringer. Not surprisingly, they handled it incredibly well. After a four week stint in the hospital, Little Spencer is home and healthy. He may have a little bit of catching up to do in the weight department, but he is perfection!

I am so happy to see Leah’s life unfolding so beautifully. The amount of love I have for this girl and her beautiful baby is beyond words. My heart is full!
