This blog seems to have turned into somewhat of a confessional for me. A way to air out my crazy tendencies, if you will. Well, this weeks confession may not come as a shock to some of you, but I feel it is time for the world to know. I, Erica Matheos, am the crazy Christmas lady on the block. In years past you may have seen me, at midnight on Halloween, bringing down the pumpkins and putting up the lights. Alright, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but honestly, it’s not too far off. But, as we all know, life is full of compromises, and as such, a part of my marital contract states that I am to keep the festivities contained to the inside of the house until at least mid November. Sadly, with all that has been happening this year, I have had neither the time or the energy. Much to my husbands enjoyment, all of my decorations remain safely stored in our garage.
Thankfully, Christmas in my new studio is currently in full swing. This past weekend marked the beginning of my 2014 Holiday Mini Session marathon. What a great weekend it was. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of kids to kick it off with. Every one of them was so well behaved, impeccably dressed, and absolutely hilarious! I had such a good time.
I would now like to share with you a few takeaways from this weekend’s events. Bribery, in these situations, is like gold. I have kids and have been there. Please know, you will receive no judgment from me should you choose to take this route. Also, If you’re comfortable and your child will allow it, I get far better results if it’s just me and my camera in the room with your kids. I have coffee and comfy chairs in my office. Take a load off and have a much deserved break. Last, but not least, a mental note for myself: children above the age of 5 no longer respond to high pitched “everybody say cheeeese” or a quacking duck. I think this weekend I have officially lost all my street cred.
I do still have a few spaces available. If you know of anybody that might be interested, send them on over. I’d love to have them.
Stay tuned for more sneak peeks in the weeks to come.
