Let me preface this post by acknowledging that it is only in the last few years that I have become a member of the dance community, and I am totally out of my element. My childhood was spent on the slopes of Mt. Baker, and there were no sequins or choreography to be seen. Dance was not even on my radar. That being said, my husband and I have two little girls and together we have decided that it is important that they have an opportunity to taste a variety of what life has to offer. I know in my heart that lessons at dance go far beyond what happens in a studio, and although the steps they are being taught today will soon be forgotten, the essence of what they’re learning is helping to shape who they grow up to be. Their character is being formed every class, as they are learning how to show up, to be seen and to participate.
This brings me to Julia and Reid, who have made a career out of their passion for dance. So, when Julia suggested that this is what she wanted to do for Cecelia’s one year session, I was immediately on board. Isn’t she a doll baby? I first met Cece when she came in for her Holiday Mini Session, and was just as lovely and sweet this time as she was then. She is such joy to work with.
Now that I’m living it, these images hit my heart in a new way. Cece may not always follow in her parents’ footsteps, but it is certainly evident that, as parents, Julia and Reid are bringing to the table all the qualities that I am loving so much about dance. There is no doubt in my mind that these two will help her find her place to shine.
Happy Birthday, Beautiful Cecelia.
