Isla is ONE

I have found that in any good cake smash, there is a moment of pure confusion. A look that undoubtedly says, “You’re going to let me do what???” Well, this moment for Isla was no more then a fleeting second. We set the cake down and she was off. She’s my kinda girl. Carpe Diem, little lady.
I could not be more crazy about this little girl. She is absolutely hilarious. But alas, all of this hilarity must suffer a consequence. I have begun to discover that at every stage or phase, parenthood presents a whole new set of challenges. Having lived it twice now, I have to say this stage was the most exhausting for me. Not to devalue the enormous amount of work it is to have a newborn, but I found sleep deprivation to be vastly different from the complete and total exhaustion that toddler-hood brings –  the relentless stair climbing, dog chasing, cupboard emptying, and endless quest for independence. Joe and Ashley, I feel for you. Isla is everywhere right now! It’s a good thing she’s ridiculously cute…
This session was bitter sweet for me, as this cake smash officially marks the end of my first ever “Year of Photos.” I have so loved watching little Isla grow, and all too quickly I might add. The very thought that I have played a small  part in the way my dear friends, Joe and Ashley, will remember Isla’s first year absolutely fills my heart.
Happy Birthday, Beautiful Isla. I can’t wait to watch you experience all the wonders that your next year will bring.
