In my former life, life before children that is, my weeks were spent working in an office. I would often joke that I would see more of my colleagues then I would my own husband, but it was quite true. In my small department, we came to know the ins and outs of each other’s lives quite quickly. That brings me to this beautiful mama. Danielle and my Mom are former colleagues, and now dear friends. Through their years working together, it seemed Danielle got married and birthed these two beautiful little girls just as my mother was welcoming my husband to the family and becoming a grandmother. As you can imagine, Danielle and I living such parallel lives added much to their conversation.
Through stories and pictures I got to know Danielle’s girls, Gigi and Frankie, long before I ever had the chance to meet them. These kids are the coolest; both of them are simply bursting with their very own personality. With their purple hair, adorable outfits, and beautiful smiles, they were every bit the perfect subjects. I’d spend an afternoon with these two any day.
It seems as though Danielle and I have only seen each other a handful of time outside of my mother’s company, but since we already know so much about each other, I feel like our sessions are more like a reunion with an old friend. Our time between photos is spent catching up on the goings on of each other’s lives and there is an endless supply of conversation. I admire Danielle’s parenting style so much, and every time I see her I feel as though I take a bit of parenting wisdom away with me. After this particular session, I left totally in awe of her ability to embrace the differences in her children, hone in on their strengths, and follow their lead. Gigi and Frankie are so lucky to have such an amazing role model for a mother.
I really enjoyed our time together. Thank you for making the trek out from Tsawwassen to see me.
