I get so excited when a new client requests a maternity/newborn package. I know from experience, the details of a pregnancy are so soon forgotten after a baby’s arrival. Perhaps this is nature’s way of tricking us into another round? Regardless, to me it’s just so important to take the time to document and celebrate this amazing thing a woman’s body can do. Oh the miracle that is life…
A maternity session also allows me an opportunity to develop a relationship with my clients prior to trusting me with their most prized possession. I met up with this lovely couple only a few short weeks ago. We had such a great time and I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of their little boy ever since.
Now, I would like to officially like to introduce, Walter. A big name for such a little boy, but I assure you this guy lives up to its full potential. He’s handsome, strong and certainly knows what he wants. I have no doubt that this name will serve him well. The morning of Walter’s session, everything seemed to align just right. Nothing about working with babies is predictable, and as a result, I’ve learned to take each session as it comes. Having already spent some time together, I am so pleased that Jenya and Gavin felt comfortable enough with me to relax and take advantage of some much needed rest while Walter and I did our thing. He was such a good baby, with a lovely disposition. It was a breeze.
Truth be told, I am by far my biggest critic. I often find it a bit painful to go back and review my work of years past. That being said, I think this has been a huge year of growth for me. This particular session was so calm and relaxed and I think it really shows in the photos. To date, I think this is some of my best work. Thank you Gavin and Jenya for coming into the studio and sharing your beautiful baby boy with me.
