To Be a Grandparent

My venture into the world of photography has given me a new platform to reconnect with people from my past. I was thrilled when Amie contacted me about bringing her handsome boys in for a Christmas session. A great time was had by all, and the results were fantastic, prompting Amie to purchase a gift certificate for her parents for Christmas.

Grandparents are something special – to have someone love your children so unconditionally… there are no words. Such a gift it is to be able to watch your own parents fall in love with your children. There is little wonder that Amie wanted to capture these special moments with her parents.

I am so happy with the results of this session. The more I do this, the more I realize the magic of photography has less to do with the photographer and more to do with the subject. I simply supply the canvas. That said, I am amassing quite the tool box of tricks of the trade. It is important that these children not leave the session feeling like they have visited the dentist. If I can get them to the place that they feel comfortable, the magic simply appears.

Having already established a connection with Jacob and Nolan, it didn’t take much coaxing to help bring out the magic that is obviously there between these boys and their grandparents. I am in love with these images and treasure photos of my own girls with my parents so much, it makes me wonder if it was actually a gift for Amie and not her parents.
