Rowan – Lifestyle

I go a long way back with Joe and Ashley – it only seemed fitting for me to go a long way forward to capture them bringing home this handsome little boy. I have always loved Vancouver island. How could I not jump at this chance. With my daughter (aka Lou, my 5 year old assistant) in tow, I embarked on a whirlwind adventure to Ucluelet. A ferry missed, a starfish found, and a white knuckle drive to the second to last house on the peninsula found us at Joe and Ashley’s  door step.

This vacation destination has become their home and I couldn’t be happier for them. Their house is nestled in the midst of a forest. Who would want to cover widows that look out at so many shades of green? I awoke to the sounds of a fog horn and the aroma of pancakes and coffee. For a brief moment, I considered never going home. These two seem to have settled into their new lifestyle with a sense of ease I certainly don’t posses.

Rowan will never live the confusion of Clayton. Isla seems to be forgetting that life wasn’t always this chill. Even with all the changes – new bedroom, new brother – Isla is coping in typical 18 month old fashion. Since I last saw this little girl, her vocabulary has exploded, she has found a favourite new reading spot, and developed quite an affinity for the beach. Life on the island is good.

Thank you for having us, Soltysik family. We plan to make use of your two guest rooms again really soon.
