Hudson is ONE

As my world expands, I find it isn’t actually being reinvented – so many of the people I went to school with have landed within blocks of each other. As a small business owner, I seem to be reaping the benefits of a network that was my childhood.

Cake smashing is a learned art – not everyone gets into the swing of things right off the bat. In fact, I have learned that you actually can’t teach someone to enjoy getting dirty. Hudson did see the humour in the event (the evidence was his throaty giggle), but was a bit tentative. I, however, am used to the crumbly disaster that is a typical “smash” – the messier the merrier. Given the outdoor location of this shoot, and his parent’s willingness to use a hose to clean up the mess, my hope was for an extreme smash experience. Alas, it wasn’t until my camera had been put away that he discovered his affinity for delicious chocolate cake.
