There’s something so special about visiting a new baby in the hospital. To be able to share in this raw and exciting time… I am beyond words. As the curtain in their shared room was opened by a proud daddy holding his new baby, I was hit by a tidal wave of emotion. A first baby is an introduction. Watching Adam and Alex feel what my husband and I felt when our first baby arrived instantly took me back to the dawn of our parenting adventure.
If I have any advice for them, it would be to notice the little things. Not just little toes and noses, but little moments. Quiet ones in the middle of the night, that moment that your baby looks at you and you know they really see you, the connection only you have with your little boy. Sometimes you will feel like the days are long but trust me, the years will fly by.
It has been so much fun anticipating the arrival of this new baby. I think I will wait till the glow of becoming an uncle again wears off before I remind my husband about the truck load of baby girl clothes that will be coming back to live in our garage.
