Reconnecting with people from my past has added icing to the cake that is my new profession. Jessica and I actually go back a long way – as it happens, Starbucks is a meeting place on both sides of the counter. Our connection is as much through acquaintances as it is through our shared work environment. It was through these acquaintances that I have been able to keep track of Jessica as she has spent the past decade wandering the planet.
When I learned through a mutual friend that Jessica was tromping around Australia, little did anyone know she was actually at the beginning of a brand new adventure. It was there that she met the love of her life, Darragh, who happened to be there on his wanderings from Ireland (funny how some paths are destined to cross).
It seems to me that wanderers beget wonderers. Their first child, Eire-Rose, was actually born in Australia, and although she lives in Canada with her parents, they all frequently cross that giant pond to visit Darragh’s family in Ireland. At 4 years old this little lady is already more traveled then I. With baby number two on the way, who knows where this wandering family will land, but my guess is that even extra luggage will not slow them down.
