Today I spent the morning at the McMillan house. Peter and Rachel couldn’t have been more easy going, relaxed and welcoming. It has seemingly taken them no time at all to get totally settled into life with a baby, and they are naturals. If I were to picture the perfect place to raise a family, Peter and Rachel’s house would be it. A quiet little cul-de-sac steps from White Rock beach. A beautiful and cozy home with a big back yard. Simply put, a perfect setting for a wonderful childhood.
My labour/delivery stories pale in comparison to these last three ladies – talk about having birth plans thrown out the window. On Monday, April 7th at 8am when Rachel arrived at the hospital for a scheduled induction two weeks prior to her due date, she discovered that baby had other plans and she was already in labour! Rachel began what would be 17 hours of hard labour, and after a lot of hard work, her birthing story ended in a C-section. In the wee hours of the morning on April 8th Crosby Ellwood, his middle name a nod to the park in which Mom and Dad met, made his much anticipated appearance.
This little guy might be the most nicely mannered baby I’ve ever met. He played the part of the perfect baby model and the session went like clockwork. A few feedings and snuggles and we were off to the races.
Congratulations to Rachel and Peter. What a way to start your beautiful growing family. Crosby is PERFECTION!
