Let us take a quick moment to reflect on how beautiful pregnant Ashley was. She was the kind of pregnant that everyone woman hopes to be. She showed up for our session sporting heels, a glowing complexion and a darling little baby bump. Ashley made this pregnancy look like a breeze.
Regardless of miles walked or endless cups of raspberry tea, Ashley went 3 days overdue before being induced. A day and a half later, little Isla entered the world. She is PERFECT, and I am so happy for Joe and Ashley!
This morning I had the opportunity to meet Joe and Ashley’s new addition. As per usual, at the Soltysik house, I was greeted at the door by their dog, Daphne. Despite my noisy entrance (thanks to a loveable dachshund) little Isla continued to sleep while being rocked by a very proud grandma. They appeared to be off to a good start.
As is the case with every new baby, we seem to be at their mercy when it comes to time. Not being my first newborn photo session, I was not surprised when little Isla was not interested in sleeping. It seems to me that the more you want them to cooperate, the less they want to oblige. As a result, these sessions tend to be a bit lengthy. Today was no exception, but how could I complain? A morning full of baby snuggles and uninterrupted time with friends – I was in my glory.
While Ashley was busy tending to the needs of her new baby, I had a few moments to walk around their beautiful house, full of souvenirs from their many travels and what looks to be a lifetime of photos together. This year marks 11 years for them. Am I ever feeling my age today! I met Joe in high school. Although we haven’t always been close, I feel as though I have gotten to witness Joe and Ashley’s entire love story. They are a perfect couple, easy company, good friends, and they already make this parenting thing look effortless. Isla, you are one lucky little girl. You have won the lottery with this family.
