As any mother knows, the early years of parenthood are a great many things: wonderful, difficult, rewarding, thankless, exciting, terrifying, satisfying, amazing, and the list goes on. Alongside all of these feelings, I also found it to be quite isolating. As luck would have it I stumbled upon a small group of remarkable young mothers. Out of this group have grown some amazing friendships. I have received more support, advice and knowledge from these girls that I can even express.
I so enjoy our time together reflecting on the happenings in each household. As far as advice goes, it seems to me that each of us brings something a little different to the table. Unfortunately for my girls, my role seems to be the “tough love Mom.” I guess the life lesson in that is you can’t pick your cards (sorry Layne and Blake). It is my opinion that Lyndsey plays the part of the “knowledge seeking Mom.” Whether it be product research, scouting for activities or knowing which is the best preschool, I am confident that if I solely follow her lead I will be making good choices for my kids. For that, Lyndsey, I am so very grateful.
Two of my favorite little people happen to be Lyndsey’s little girls, Emmelyn and Millie. Recently, the Kingston family celebrated Millie’s first birthday. It is true when they say that no baby is the same. Where Emmelyn is tentative, quiet and sweet, Millie is loud, outgoing and FUNNY. Never before have I met a baby with such a sense of humour. She has been cracking jokes since before she could crawl and her happiness radiates through every photo. I have had so much fun watching this little one grow and I am looking forward to many more adventures.
Happy Birthday to this beautiful, loving, daring, clever, determined little girl.
Look out world, Millie’s best has yet to come.
