Ryder is ONE

How is it that a whole year can go by in a blink? My eldest’s first year, as my introduction to motherhood, was the fastest year of my life. Every moment was a milestone and it all passed in an instant. It is my opinion that the gift of motherhood brings out the best in us, and my friend Jennifer is exceptional. Every ounce of her being simply oozes with love for her darling little boy. There are no words to describe how proud I am of her. So lucky am I to be able to call this amazing woman my friend.

Don’t be fooled by this handsome face – this guy gave his parents a good run for their money in his early days. On little sleep, Jennifer and Scott managed to persevere and this little Carpenter has been nothing but sweet and smiley ever since. This day was no exception. Ryder was every bit the perfect model for his first birthday session. From costume changes, to cake smashing, to bubbles in the bath, he nailed it. This is far and away the greatest bath sequence I have ever seen. I could have watched him splash in that tub all day. It was hilarious.

Congratulations, Jennifer and Scott, you’ve made it through your first year of parenthood. Your little Ryder is loved more then you will ever know. As you get ready to welcome a new baby into your family I can only hope that she is half as lovely as her older brother.
