My brother in-law and his wife are expecting their first baby. As their due date quickly approaches and the anticipation becomes unbearable, it occurs to me that this baby means a great many things. I get to be an auntie again. My girls will have another cousin. I am going to be able to relate to Adam and Alex on a whole new level. I am so excited to watch them discover parenthood.
That being said, what goes around comes around. My children have been the recipients of much love and generosity over the course of their short lives. As I wait for this new baby to arrive, I find myself poised and ready. To bestow an extravagant and frivolous gift with no ulterior motive will be my prerogative; I need not concern myself with either the educational or nutritional value of anything. Their wish will be my command – thus I fully intend to be the favourite.
Lets face it, I have learned from the best. Adam and Alex have set the bar. Power wheels for Christmas, carte blanche at Build-A-Bear for birthdays, and regular bath tub facetimes. They have treated their nieces like royalty, and I am so thrilled to return the favour with exuberance.
