I LOVE exploring new places, and this one in particular was a total gem. A perfect combination of water, beach, and beautiful backdrops. Thank you, van der Hoop family, for leading me to Brae Island. I will now be adding it to my list of go to’s for future outdoor sessions. However, since leaving our session, I have now tasked myself with more work. How could I not be inspired to go scout out new locations? This one was right in my backyard and I had no idea.
A couple of months ago, I received a session request from April. She, her husband Jeff, and son Augustus would be visiting from Calgary. Turns out, their trip was aptly timed. The morning of our session all of Calgary woke up to a foot of snow and here we were wearing t-shirts and soaking up sunshine. My favourite kind of fall.
This beautiful family was wonderful to work with. I have to say, when April mentioned there would be six adults, three dogs, and a toddler, I was a little concerned it might be a bit of a circus. I only say this because these are the same dimensions as my family (minus a couple of toddlers to add to the craziness). Turns out that wasn’t the case. I had a great time. As small worlds would have it. Becky, Earl and I know many of the same people and have many of the same interests. Let’s just say there was no lack of conversation. To add a little comic relief to the morning, Julia and Jeremy’s dog, Ryker, made a great escape. Thankfully we were able to get him in a few photos while his coat was still white.
Thank you Van der Hoop family for allowing me to help capture your time together .
