The Scramstad’s

This isn’t the first, and it certainly won’t be the last time you will be seeing these beautiful people on my blog. That being said, I am constantly looking for extra time these days, and the thought of cutting and pasting from a previous post did cross my mind. But, being that Kate (my English teaching friend) is my editor, it might not be in my best interest. I’m to understand she has a keen eye for plagiarism.

Thankfully, almost a whole year has passed since I last wrote about these guys and I have gotten to come up with a whole new set of wonderful things to say. So here I go…

Let’s start with the birthday boy, Henry (better know in this house as Prince Charming). I cannot believe he is four already. This year has been a huge year for Henry, he really is turning into a little man. Among many other things, this is the year that he has discovered his love for Spider-Man and all things super hero. Unfortunately for my girls, he is no longer so easily convinced to play dress up and tea party. I knew those days were coming to an end the day he started showing up to our house with a web-shooter drawn on his arm. This has also been the year that he has found his brave. Swimming, soccer, and even the big slide at Captain Kids – he’s all over it. I’m so proud of him. I’m even prouder that our birthday gift to him made it on his birthday board for favourite toy. I knew I nailed that one.

Now, let’s talk about my little friend, Bennett. This little man is quite possibly the sweetest little boy I have ever met. My heart absolutely melts when he runs to see me or surprises me with a leg hug, but I tell ya those second babies are a whole other breed. A little tougher, a little rougher, and a whole lot faster. This little guy is everywhere right now. He is so close to getting in on the action with the big kids he can taste it. I remember being so sad watching my daughter Blake go though this. Hang in there, Little Buddy – it’ll happen soon enough.

Last but not least – Kate and Jeremy. It has been a long-standing joke that if we were to throw genders aside we would have identical marriages. The similarities in personality traits to Jeremy and I and that of Craig and Kate are endless. I think this is why we all get along so well. I couldn’t ask for better friends. Kate has been so supportive in all areas of my life. I feel like I could say thank you all day for all the wonderful things she does for my family and me, but I know that’s not why she does it. She is the best and I think my kids love her almost as much as I do. I mentioned in my last blog post that we are currently in the middle of putting together my new studio. When I say we, I really mean my husband. When I make requests like knocking out three windows, tearing up the floor and repainting the entire place in a month, I just assume that it’s no big deal. My husband can do anything. As it turns out, it’s a huge deal and we would be in totally over our heads if it weren’t for good friends like Jeremy. I know full well how crazy his weeks are with his penchant for working overtime, and how important his weekends with his family are to him, but he still made time. He was here all weekend hoisting windows, hammering drywall and painting. I am so grateful. I just might keep these guys around for another year.
