Mommy and Me Mini Sessions

Is it only me who finds the pages of their calendar flipping all too quickly these days? Scheduled events seem to be sneaking up on me at an alarming rate. Case in point: a couple of weeks ago I received an email from one of my lovely holiday mini session clients. She emailed inquiring about a  Mother’s Day mini session. Keep in mind, at this point I was still packing up Easter eggs and Mother’s Day was not even on my radar.  How could I not seize the opportunity? I had such a great time working with Dawn at Christmas and her little Callan is insanely cute, how could I say no? And so, I present the Lou Roo Photography Mommy and Me mini sessions.

Massive amounts of editing aside, mini sessions are really where it’s at. Beautiful clients parading in and out as I hang out in a park with my camera all day. A day in the sunshine reconnecting with past clients and their ever growing children… This is the good life.

Being primarily a stay at home mom, I rarely have the opportunity to play the spectator’s role in a mothering environment. Photos with small children is no small undertaking for parents. There are no guarantees, even if all appropriate measures have been taken. Adequate amount of sleep has been had, bellies are full, multiple costume changes have been packed, bribery plans have been mapped out: but no one knows about these extraneous efforts when they see your smiling faces posted on Facebook. This is only a small glimpse of the enormous amount of work it is to be a mother. But, I have to say, being a mom is so rewarding in endless ways. Watching these beautiful women interact with their children all day has filled my heart. Witnessing the pure joy, love and connection between these mothers and their children was absolutely breathtaking. This day has given me fresh eyes and renewed appreciation for my own kids. Thank you ladies, for not only sharing your beautiful children with me for the afternoon, but for everything else that you do that nobody sees.

Happy Mother’s Day!
